In my 3rd grade class there were 4 of our kind
Things got crazy but I didn't mind
They called us one name, us four little tykes..
It could have been worse, but the name was 'Mike'
Now there are tall Mikes, short Mikes, Mikes with yellow hair
Wherever you are, someone named Mike is there
Michael Moore, Mike Myers, Michael Crichton, Michael Jackson
Baryshnikov and Gorbechev, Mick Jagger and Mike Tyson
The name 'Michael'(they say), means 'who is like the lord'
If it was a car, it'd be your basic Ford
Safe and homogenized, not loved but always liked
New parents when in doubt, seem to like Mike
But if our parents had guts we'd be named Rufus or Moon Unit
But Mike rolls off the tongue, you don't have to even tune it
'A boy named Sue' is tough, but mike is so innocuous
Michael , Mike or Micky, nothing there to shock you with.
We are everywhere, like cheese or the sky
It's just a fact of nature, don't ask why
The most popular name is Michael, or some derivation
An army of mikes , call us the Michael nation
and tho the name has been used, you might say recycled
I'm, proud to be among the two billions Michaels
Sometimes I wish it was Mark or Bob but I still feel empowered
